LG hast taken the fourth place in terms of global sales of its mobile phones, according to reports.
It has emerged that the South Korean manufacturer took the position, creeping ahead of Sony Ericsson which moved down into fifth place.
The Korea Times reports that the emergence of LG Electronics as one of the world's premier manufacturers of mobile phones is primarily down to the success of some of its recent handsets.
Models such as the Chocolate and Shine, which are part of LG's Black Label Series, have allowed the company to creep up on its rivals and take some of the limelight.
It is reported by the newspaper that LG claims it will be able to eclipse another of its rivals, Motorola, during the second half of 2008 and aims to sell 100 million handsets for the whole of the year.
The third model in the Black Label Series, the LG Secret (or KF750) has been described by the company as "sophisticatedly designed yet durable" and is equipped with a five-megapixel camera.
