Following recent speculation that Apple and O2 were about to cut the price of their 8GB iPhone, it has emerged that some customers will be offered a refund.
According to the Associated Press, the iPhone will now be available at the Carphonewarehouse for £169 - and customers who have recently paid full price for the handset will be offered a reimbursement from the store.
It is reported that consumers who bought an 8GB Apple iPhone within the past 30 days will now receive a £100 voucher.
"The offer is available from [Wednesday] on all O2 iPhone tariffs and will create additional momentum for what has been O2's fastest-selling device," a spokesperson for O2 confirmed.
The news agency adds that the 16GB version of the iPhone will continue to come with a £329 price tag and Apple stores will not be reducing their prices on the 8GB model.
Recently there has been growing speculation that Apple could soon unveil a 3G version of the iPhone.
