Apple iPhone hype: Round two

A new article has warned that the hype that surrounded the launch of the Apple iPhone is set for a second round this year when the manufacturer unleashes its new handset.
According to Lynette Luna, editor of the Fierce Wireless website, increasing speculation that Apple's chief executive Steve Jobs will unveil a 3G version of the iPhone at the firm's Worldwide Developers Conference in June, could lead to another year like 2007.
Ms Luna states that this means "another summer dominated by Apple" and that this means "the clock is ticking for all of those iPhone competitors coming to market".
She states that mobile phones such as the Samsung Instinct, BlackBerry's Curve and the rumoured Nokia model that is currently going by the name Tube, will need to get their touchscreen faces on the scene sooner rather than later if they are to survive.
"Possibly millions in marketing dollars could be washed away if these competitors look to launch their marketing campaigns head-to-head with the second round of the iPhone hype," she concludes.
Earlier this week, Commercial Times reported that Foxxconn Electronics, the company behind the manufacture of the iPhone, had been ordered to arrange shipment of the 3G model in June.
