3G iPhone dismissed as "rumour" by website

The release into the ether of a photograph purporting to be the third generation (3G) Apple iPhone has been classes as a hoax by a website.
The picture of what appears to be a glossy black plastic iPhone, rather than the satin nickel we all know, was published by iPodObserver, which received it from an unnamed source.
Many websites have scrutinised the photo and questioned its authenticity, including tech.co.uk, whose staff reporter seemed very reluctant to believe this was the 3G phone everyone wanted to talk about.
"Make of this what you will," said the article.
"Until we receive the official word and product imagery from Apple, we're filing this one firmly under 'iPhone rumour'."
"I'm not convinced Apple would completely do away with aluminium," added blog.wired.com.
The iPodObserver said it was reserving judgement until Apple's boss Steve Jobs actually pulled a new iPhone out of his pocket.
Until, or if, it ever arrives, buyers can choose from a host of 3G mobile phones currently on the market.
