O2 unveils £29.99 PAYG dongle
Posted: 2 December 2008
A pay as you go (PAYG) mobile broadband service has been priced at £29.99 by mobile phone network provider O2.
The dongle forms part of the company's drive to provide clear costs and "no strings attached" products for customers, it said in a statement.
Download speeds of up to 3.6Mbps will be available with the USB modem and it will give users access to more than 6,000 Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the UK.
The PAYG service starts at £2 per day (500MB), increasing to £15 per month (3GB). There is no minimum-term contract.
O2 marketing director Peter Rampling said the dongle would be great for those who want to "snack on the internet".
He added: "Our younger customers want to live online and can do so with Pay & Go at affordable prices."
The PAYG mobile broadband takes a "few minutes" to set up, O2 stated.
Last month saw the network announce Surprises, its offer of freebies every time a mobile phone PAYG tops up their credit.
The Surprises range from cinema tickets, free texts and picture messages to an iPhone.
