The accelerated use of mobile broadband should prompt changes to the regulations surrounding the UK's mobile industry, it has been claimed.
Ofcom commissioned a study from Analysys Mason which found that the mobile broadband is likely to become an even more prevalent feature in UK retail and communications, reports CBMagazine.co.uk.
The increased availability of services through mobile phone handsets and laptop computers could mean that retailers and businesses will see an increase in sales and custom through on-the-go technology.
Mike Grant, partner at Analysys Mason, commented: "With users increasingly focussed on consumption of content across multiple networks, adjustments to the UK regulatory framework are likely to be required."
He stated that this was necessary in order for all the potential benefits of the "emerging trends" to be realised in full.
In related news, Ericcson has recently unveiled its latest 160 Mbps 4G mobile broadband which was capable of downloading 10MB files in "the blink of an eye".
