MotorolaContenders are continually lining up to attempt to take the 3G touchscreen crown of Apple's latest iPhone.

The latest manufacturer to try this, Trusted Reviews reports, is Motorola - with a new model that the company no doubt hopes will save its mobile phones division.

It is reported that the Motorola Alexander was expected to be "the company's last hurrah before a potential sale of its handset division", but the article adds that the new Atila could be about to change this.

The site the handset will be similar to the Alexander smartphone, but will replace the qwerty keyboard with a touch screen similar to HTC's Touch Diamond and Touch Pro models.

HSDPA speeds of up to 7.2Mbit with 1.8Mbps HSUPA, Wi-Fi , Windows Mobile 6.1 and a 2.8-inch screen are just some of the things the phone could offer, but it is added that Motorola will need to move quickly to stay ahead of its rivals.

It was recently announced that the Blackberry Bold would soon be available in the UK and many believe this could be a serious rival to the iPhone 3G.
