You may well recognise the looks (and the bright yellow paintjob) of the Sonim XP3, because it's the follow-up to the first XP1 (more commonly known as the JCB Tough Phone). You'll definitely recognise the cyclopean construction, and believe it or not, this hardcase of a mobile phone has become even more hard-wearing! So, the Sonim XP3 is, from the official specs, dust-proof, but even better, it's gone beyond splash resistance, and it's become waterproof, down to a depth of 1m!

Toughest Phone

Ah, but it doesn't finish at that; the Sonim XP3 is just flexing its muscles. It will laugh off a drop of 2m onto concrete and it's resistant to fog, salt, and humidity, and it'll work perfectly in a range of temperatures from -20C to +60C! Not only that, but the tests that certify it'll work in those conditions are military standard tests, which means that, well, the Sonim XP3 is essentially a military-spec phone!

Surprisingly for such a rock solid, deliberately basic mobile phone, the Sonim XP3 even has a few reallyuseful features that make it nice to use, like an enhanced speaker for louder ringtones (in loud environments), the ability to connect a separate antenna, to boost the signal, and the fabulous Opera Mini browser to give you access to the full internet. So, if you need a phone that's pretty much indestructible by conventional methods, the Sonim XP3 is the phone for you!
