- Automatic Handset Detection
For all new BT Mobile customers with new handsets,
the required settings for WAP (GPRS) and MMS will
be automatic.
BT Mobile SIM Cards carry a fantastic
piece of technology called ‘Change Handset
Detection’ which
is enabled as standard. This automatic handset detection,
uses a new function of the SIM that allows it to
detect a change in IMEI number which triggers a prompt
to the user. It picks up both NEW and swapped handsets!
The
automated message gives the user a choice to download
new settings for the handset either now
or later (later meaning at the next switch on).
If the user chooses to download the settings a
background SMS is automatically sent communicating
the customers
relevant details (MSISDN and TAC code). There is
a response within minutes with the correct settings
SMS for that handset. All the customer has to do
is save/store them (as prompted) and they are up
and running straight away.
