OFCOM Cash Back Guidelines

ofcom guidelinesOur Cash Back comparison rating is simple. We regularly check the Cash Back Redemption Terms & Conditions of each mobile phone retailer against the five key guidelines set out by OFCOM.

These guidelines were put in place to ensure mobile phone retailers give customers a fair set of redemption rules for which to claim their Cash Back incentives.

We’ve listed the five guidelines and each retailer below and clearly show you with a tick or a cross, which guidelines complied with. Meaning a five out of five meets all of the OFCOM recommendations, giving you increased peace of mind for your cash back claim.

OFCOM Cash Back Guidelines
  1. Requirement that the customer submits their original invoice statements.
  2. Imposition of a charge for processing a cashback claim.
  3. Requirement that cashback claims are submitted within an unreasonably short period of time, such as anything less than 60 days.
  4. Terms stating that a cashback payment will not be made if the customer has an outstanding balance on their account.
  5. The terms of the offer must not be unduly restrictive, such as any failed claims invalidating all future claims.
