Samsung postponing launch of Galaxy S3 due to iPhone 4S?

Reports suggest that Samsung may be postponing the launch of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S3 until the second quarter of 2012 in an attempt to allow consumer demand for the iPhone 4S to subside.

It has been widely anticipated that the Korean giant would unveil its new flagship device at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month, which would be in keeping with the last two years which saw the release of the Galaxy S and the Galaxy S2 respectively.

But according to supply chain sources, a number of companies, such as Samsung, could be planning on holding back their new handsets to avoid a head-to-head battle with the iPhone 4S… still going strong after being released late last year.

A report claims that the group, which allegedly includes HTC, Nokia and LG, could postpone their phones until the second quarter of 2012, raising the prospect that the S3 won’t show until early April at the earliest.

So all you Android fans out there will just have to hold on a little bit longer… however I can imagine the reward will be well worth it!

Samsung celebrates good times!

Samsung celebrates an extremely successful 2011 as it breaks it’s own record!

But which phones are the hero earners? Well, obviously the hugely successful Samsung Galaxy SII is a clear winner and, with versions subsequently being released in White, and also Pink, it looks set to continue its supreme reign of popularity.

The phone/tablet hybrid, Samsung Galaxy Note, was another best-seller for the company.

A Dutch court has ruled in favour of Apple and are stopping the Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy S and the Samsung Galaxy Ace from being sold in the Netherlands.

The iPhone maker has said Samsung infringed on design patents as well as three key software patents, with only one managing to uphold in the court room, which was the ‘Portable Electronic Device for Photo Management’. The software is a method that is used for scrolling through a photo gallery using finger gestures on a touchscreen.

Unfortunately Netherlands hosts some of the Korean phones manufacturer’s main distribution canters which could mean the ban in Netherlands could affect the rest of Europe. Hopefully Samsung will find a way around this.

White Galaxy S2 to be released!

Following the enormous success of the Galaxy S2, which shifted a colossal 5 million handsets in a mere 85 days, Samsung has decided to release a white model!

Since the iPhone went on sale in with two distinct colour options, the desire for white handsets has increased, with many manufacturers bringing out a limited edition white version of their most popular devices to boost sales.

Samsung are the latest to follow suit, with a white Galaxy S2 expected to land mid-August with a price tag or around £492 SIM-free.

The same specs as the original version can be found, including a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, and an 8 megapixel camera capable of full high-definition video-recording. There’s also the fantastic 4.3 inch Super AMOLED plus screen which truly is an amazing sight.

Is this Samsung’s attempt to nab potential iPhone 5 customers prior to its launch, or is it an attempt to keep sales rolling high? Either way, it’s sure to be a winner.

The ever-so popular Samsung Galaxy S II may be appearing as a Windows Phone 7 device. The handset is currently available only as Android smartphone but now new information suggests we could see the S II as WP7 handset running on the upcoming Mango update.

Details on the Bluetooth SIG shows a new device called the Samsung SGH-i937 which has the same Bluetooth profile as the Mango update. The Samsung Galaxy S II is also known as the Samsung SGH-i927 which got us thinking that the new device is a variation of the S II.

Also considering that the Omnia 7 is effectively a WP7 version of the original Samsung Galaxy S, got us to come to the conclusion that the phone manufacturer has before turned a top selling Android Smartphone into a WP7 device, what’s to stop them from doing it again.

More rumours keep surfacing about a takeover of the Finnish phone manufacturers company whose markets share has taken a rather steep downfall in the recent years.

The most recent rumour is that Samsung will be taking over Nokia, which sounds rather strange considering there is no benefit for Samsung as it has entered the WP7 market with the Samsung Omnia 7.

Both companies have kept quiet about the rumours with Samsung reportedly commenting: “It seems like a market rumour and we don’t comment on rumours.”

Microsoft was also rumoured to be taking over Nokia which to got us questioning this as they had just signed a deal together, with rumours now surfacing that the deal has fallen through after Nokia wanted $17 billion instead of the initial $12 billion.
