Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia has announced its latest smartphone device, the N9.
Rumours have been flying around recently suggesting what features the new handset would house, however Nokia still had a few surprises in store.
The device runs on the Nokia’s Meego operating system and, although based on its predecessor the N8, the latest creation has moved away from featuring a physical home button in favour of an all-screen design. The home screen is instead accessed with a simple swipe gesture performed on the display.
This button-absence means the N9 can pack a larger and more impressive 3.9 inch AMOLED screen, which is made of curved Gorilla Glass with anti-glare polarisation technology.
Another missing feature is the slide-out QWERTY keyboard which was previously predicted, meaning the handset is smaller, slimmer and can be used with just one hand. It does, however, feature an 8 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera, which is capable of shooting HD video.
Storgae is also not an issue with the N9 as it comes with either 16GB or 64GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. Near Field Communication technology makes an appearance too to ensure that this handset is ready for contactless payment.
