iPhone 5 to have super-sized screen

The next iteration of the iPhone could see Apple moving away from the 3.5 inch display screen they have favoured over the last few years, and in its place will be a screen of super-sized proportion, which many of the handset’s Android competitors already boast.

This is according to an insider, of course, who spilled the beans to Reuters, and there was talk of a massive 4.6 inch display for the next iPhone model.

The same high-density retina display, as seen on the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S, will be present too, so there’s nothing to worry about there!

This larger handset, rumoured to be launching in Q2 of this year (yes, just 6 months after the launch of the iPhone 4S) will bring Apple in-line with the latest range of Android smartphones, some of which sport 5 inch displays, such as the Samsung Galaxy Note, and are more of a phone/tablet hybrid (or a ‘phablet’ if you will).

We’ll bring you more on this as and when it develops but, for now, stay tuned!

Apparently, the iPhone 4S uses twice as much data as the iPhone 4

Yup, that’s what a survey done by Arieso says, anyway. According to the results, the iPhone 4S is responsible for twice as much data traffic on mobile networks as the iPhone 4 was, so logically, it’s eating twice as much data; apparently, it even uses more than the iPad, a device specifically designed for data usage (where the iPhone is still, ostensibly, at its heart, a phone).

Now, at this point, it’s very tempting to just say “yup, Siri’s fault,” and knock off early, safe in the knowledge that a conclusion has been reached, even if it’s not the right one. So, that’s what I’m going to do.

Oh, alright then, I’ll keep talking… (more…)

Six Guns for iOS – let’s SHAMELESSLY rip off Red Dead Redemption!

As you may or may not know, I utterly love Red Dead Redemption, a game that can be fairly accurately described as Grand Theft Horse. I was kinda pleased (since it finally gives me a chance to talk about it on this blog) to see Gameloft ripping it off so shamelessly being inspired by it, to make their new iOS game, Six Guns:

Blimey, that really is blatant, innit? Six Guns is coming soon to iOS, and since they’ve been working on it a while, I’d presume it’ll be available for iPhone 4, instead of being limited to only work on the new iPhone 4S. Still now word on when (or if) it’ll come to Android… (more…)

iPhone 4S set to become best-seller

It may only be days since the announcement of the iPhone 4S but reports suggest that the latest iteration of the handset is already on course to break sales records.

Unveiled only last week, the iPhone 4S received pre-orders via AT&T to the tune of 200,000 in the first 12 hours alone.

Meanwhile, Apple has announced that orders it receives now will not land on launch day (14 October 14), but will instead ship within one to two weeks, suggesting it has been inundated with demand for the latest device.

Total orders from all channels would easily put the iPhone 4S on course to trump the 600,000 units of the iPhone 4 ordered within 24 hours of the iPhone 4 pre-sale starting.

Could it be Apple’s best-seller yet?

Apples conference is today!

Just a little longer till Apple’s big event which could finally put an end to those on-going rumours concerning the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S but there is still an uncertainty if both devices will be announced, or just one or perhaps neither.

It is looking more likely that the iPhone 4S will be unveiled today as the handset has made its way on to Vodafone Germany website on the to the compatibly list of Apple bumpers, showing both black and white variations and a massive 64GB model to!

Further evidence suggests a cheaper iPhone could be on the cards

A budget iPhone could be among Apple’s forthcoming product launch items after listings appeared on Apple’s internal inventory.

9to5Mac reports that it has unearthed SKU codes (catalogue numbers) which point to a revamped iPhone4 handset. Apparently the numbers in question differ only slightly from the SKU code used for the original iPhone4, meaning we could potentially be overly-excited about nothing more than a slight modification of the existing latest Apple model.

It could also signify that a budget version of the iconic handset is due to launch, alongside the more premium product that is the iPhone 5… all will be revealed next week when Apple takes the world by storm, yet again!

iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S just got confirmed, well sort of at least.  An Apple board member and former vice president of the US, Al Gore just let slip that “the new iPhones coming out next month”.

Rumours of the next generation iPhone include a larger screen than its predecessor along with a dual-core processor and an 8 mega-pixel camera. The iPhone 4S however will only be a slight variation to the iPhone 4 and will be the budget handset.

Rumour has it the iPhone 5 could be announced on the 4th October.

Mobile phones spotted in Birdemic, THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE

Woohoo! I am now away on holiday, down in the wonderful county of Norfolk! In memory of last year’s escapades in Cumbria (you know, wherein I got terrified by chickens, before they made me their god), I thought I’d begin this week’s blog posts with a bird-related one. Basically, what I’m saying is that I wasn’t recently privileged enough to witness something momentous. Yes, I’ve finally seen Birdemic: Shock and Terror.

I know I’m prone to making sweeping, hyperbolic statements, so I want to make it very clear that I’m being 100% sincere when I say this: Birdemic is, easily, without any shadow of a doubt, the single worst “movie” it has ever been my pleasure and/or misfortune to sit through… (more…)

D’oh! Have Apple gone and lost another iPhone prototype?

TechnicalMarkus Posted on: September 1st, 2011

Right, this is just careless, if it’s true (and it very possibly isn’t… keep that in mind, I’ll come back to it in a second). Remember the whole debacle about the prototype iPhone 4 that got lost/left in a bar/nicked/purloined/otherwise procured by someone, and was subsequently blogged about by Gizmodo? Yeah, well, according to CNet, the same thing happened recently, with the prototype iPhone 5. Le sigh.

According to that source link, the prototype went missing in Cava22, a San Francisco bar, and was then electronically traced by Apple, to the apartment of some pleb in San Francisco, which is where police found it. Here’s the thing, though: is this on the level, or a load of old cobblers? (more…)

Bullet – Upcoming iPhone game inspired by Red Dead Redemption?

TechnicalMarkus Posted on: August 30th, 2011

Red Dead Redemption, by Rockstar Games, was one of those games that annoyed me, for an odd reason. Y’see, I absolutely adored it, but because it was set around the start of the 20th Century, in the wild west, I could in no way blog about it here. ‘Tis a similar problem to the one I’ll have when Mass Effect 3 comes out, albeit in that case, it’s ‘cos it’s set 200 years in the future.

Well, it looks like Gameloft’s come to my rescue, because according to TouchArcade, they’re all ready to unveil a game that looks suspiciously like a mobile version of Red Dead Redemption. It seems they uploaded a couple of videos of it to their Youtube channel, but briefly forgot to flag them as private (click the piccie to see ‘em)… (more…)
