Virgin Media has decided to boost its selection of handsets powered by the increasingly popular Google Android operating system.

Coming soon to the network is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, designed to give owners the freedom and flexibility to manage all of their contacts in one place while using a four-inch touchscreen.

The gadget is set to hit the market next month on a range of tariffs.

Also set for launch in April is the much-anticipated HTC Desire – another phone Virgin has decided to add to its product line-up.

Coming equipped with the latest Android 2.1 platform, it also has a five-megapixel camera, 3.7-inch screen and built-in applications for social networking favourites such as Twitter and Facebook.

The network has also just released the Samsung Galaxy Portal, which can be obtained on various price plans.

However, this device comes with the innovative augmented reality app, which enables owners to simply point the phone in any direction and receive "the exact location of loads of exciting places, from new bars and clubs to cash machines and train stations".

There are more great handsets available as part of another offer Virgin Media is running, enabling buyers to receive a completely free phone when they sign up for certain £30 per month tariffs.
