Those who were lucky enough to attend the Consumer Electronics Show may have spotted Windows Mobile 6.5.3 on a Toshiba TG01 phone.

Blogs up and down the country are reporting that the operating system, which has not been officially rolled out yet by Microsoft, was seen on a certain handset at the Las Vegas event, which concluded on January 10th.

Softpedia notes that the upgrade comes with a host of improvements mostly related to the touch experience and user interface, while the Unwired described it as "more finger-friendly".

Application updates will also be incorporated, but Engadget highlighted the fact that the changes mean Windows Mobile is finally comfortable to use without a stylus.

"It’s still not pretty, but this is a case where function is at least earning its money trying to trump form," the blog added.

Mobiles on the market running Windows Mobile 6.5 include the Samsung Omnia Lite.
