A new mobile phone is set to be launched next month that is the first to operate fully using the Welsh language.

Orange announced this week that from September 1st, its customers will be able to get hold of the Samsung S5600 on pay-as-you-go and contract – and will be able to enjoy its many special features.

The device is not only equipped with menu facilities that are entirely translated into the native tongue of Wales, it also boasts predictive text messaging for the language.

Sian Doyle, head of retail at Orange, said the network would continue to innovate in such areas, adding that the move followed another recent move to engage with its users in the country.

"We hope that new initiatives like this and the opening of our first community concept store in Monmouth will ensure that Orange becomes the best-loved telecommunications company in Wales," she added.

The carrier announced this particular outlet on July 23rd alongside a new multimedia store in Milton Keynes.

Are you Welsh? If so, is this something you have been waiting for?
