Vodafone UK has released a unique device to improve mobile phone signal in the home.

The exclusive "life changing" Sure Signal plug-in box costs £50 and is "quick and easy to install", according to the phone giant.

Guy Laurence, Vodafone UK chief executive said: "If they [customers] live or work in a basement for example, the only way they may be able to get consistent mobile coverage could be with a Vodafone Sure Signal."

According to research by Vodafone, one in 50 Britons would possibly move house due to a bad signal and one in five have missed an important event because of no signal.

The device can plug into any home or office broadband line and downloads at "at least" 1MB per second.

Four people can use the Sure Signal at any one time and up to 32 people can be registered on it.

Vodafone made the first mobile call in the UK in January 1985.
