Vodafone is promoting its music services with its own social networking site, according to reports.

Cellular-news states that the network has set up a page on MySpace that will promote live events and music releases and will allow users to generate their own content.

The Vodafone Music Reporter, as it is known, will initially be accessible to consumers in Germany, Spain and the UK and Italy will follow over the coming days.

David Wheldon, Vodafone‘s global brand director, said the move was an attempt to engage with the public and continue its "heritage" of "understanding what our customers want in terms of music."

Vodafone‘s TBA series of live music shows have brought a number of high profile artists to the stage.

Amy Winehouse, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Kanye West, Kasabian and The Killers are among the many acts which have appeared in the network-sponsored events.
