Five new handsets are coming to the Vodafonepay-as-you-go (PAYG) network ahead of Christmas, it has been announced.

Launched with the gift-giving season in mind, the carrier explained this week that people could expect the new range to all be touchscreen devices with £100 of credit for texts and calls included.

The first of the two handsets are the Samsung Genio and Tocco Lite, while the LG Viewty Lite will also be available, alongside Nokia’s 5800 music-focused model and the operator’s own Vodafone 541.

It was noted that the phones will be priced differently, but will all benefit from the same inclusive call time, in addition to another festive, cash-saving treat.

"For even more value, Vodafone [PAYG] customers can get free mobile internet this Christmas," it explained, stating this would cover all of Christmas and New Year’s Day.

This week also saw the company add the Samsung H1 smartphone to its range on 24-month contracts priced with a £35 tariff.
