A new mobile application has been launched that aims to encourage mobile users to be more environmentally-friendly.

T Mobile said this week that the Green Perks service is available to download on a number of its enabled handsets and will provide exclusive discounts on a range of green products and services.

Free to obtain for those with suitable data access packages, the offering works with firms including Method, Jamba Juice, Volcom, Roxy and Quiksilver to reward those making more socially-responsible purchases.

Ryan Butz, director of customer marketing at T Mobile, said: "Green Perks is our latest offering for customers who are concerned about managing and reducing their environmental impact."

He added the service would coincide with the launch of the Moto W233 Renew, which was recently made available to customers.

The device is partially made from recycled plastic bottles and is manufactured using methods that are certified carbon neutral.
