The Sony Ericsson Vivaz, like the Xperia X10, includes the “human curvature” feature of the phone company’s portfolio, which is “designed to mirror the human body”.
The new HD handset, a touchscreen, will come on to the market in the first quarter of 2010.
HD video capacity is one of the main features of the Vivaz, which comes with a continuous auto focus “for the perfect film every time”.
Face and smile detection is an element of the 8.1-megapixel camera, which has a 4x digital zoom.
Video uploads can be made on to YouTube and Picasa via a Wi-Fi connection and the user can also access social networking sites, such as Facebook.
Lennard Hoornik, head of marketing at Sony Ericsson, said: “We have created a mobile phone that makes it easy to catch life in high quality video and upload that self expression on to the web to share with the world.”
He added that video content was “exploding on the web” and said the Vivaz offers beauty “inside and out”.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, which was unveiled in November 2009, also features a 8.1-megapixel camera and touchscreen.
