I was in a bad mood the other day. D’ya know why? They’ve finally started showing Palm Pre adverts over here in Blighty, and annoyingly, they’ve redubbed the hippy woman’s voice. And I liked her weird, kid-out-of-The-Shining voice, so I was annoyed. I was all ready to give up on TV advert for mobile phones altogether, I tell ya.
And then, I saw this ad for the Sony Ericsson Satio:
GIANT SPACEHOPPER! Awesoooooooooooooooooooooooome!
Sorry, I’m a child of the 80s (well, more or less, I was born in the late 70s, but I can’t remember anything from before I was 3 years old, oddly *raises eyebrows*), the spacehopper is, to me, humanity’s second greatest achievement after the moon landings. Now, granted, I’m finding it hard to find a link between the Sony Ericsson Satio, with its 12MP camera, and spacehoppers, but frankly I don’t care. Because the sheer spectacle of unleashing about twelvety-billion spacehoppers on Barcelona is worth it.
Hmmm, you know what’d be the ultimate in awesome? If Sony Ericsson stuck a free spacehopper in every Satio box. Can you imagine the wonder of that?
Do it, SE, do it now!
Do you have fond memories of the spacehopper? Or is this blog post infused with a wistful melancholy, because you burst yours? Leave us a comment and have your say!
