Last week, I ran a story about Ericsson seemingly getting cold feet about their joint venture with Sony, and about Sony wanting to buy out their Swedish partner. Well, according to mocoNews, Ericsson have come out and answered that rumour. And basically, they’ve said, “We ain’t going nowhere!”
Or, as Ericsson spokesperson Minako Nakatsuma Olofzon more eloquently put it, “[Ericsson is] committed to the joint venture; it hasn’t changed its view on that.”
So, with Ericsson still in the picture, what of Sony? Note that no-one’s denied the rumour they want to pony up and buy out Ericsson, although it has to be said that this new official news does pour a bit of cold water on the naysayers who say they want out.
And yes, it still annoys me when people just come out of the woodwork and say they could run Sony Ericsson better than the people who are running it.
(I’m not naming the blog who said they know how to run a phone manufacturer better than the manufacturer, but suffice to say, they came across as ever so slightly (pronounced mind-blowingly) arrogant.)
Of course, Sony Ericsson aren’t quite out of the doldrums, yet, with the credit crunch hitting them harder than most others, but hey, not long to wait till the Sony Ericsson Idou comes out, and turns everything around, right?
