Software developers as excited about Palm Pre as we are?

Developers excited about Palm Pre, too?The big talking point in mobile phones, for the last few months, has been the Palm Pre, with a lot of people getting very excited about its impending launch. Now, one of the things that Palm promised is that the Pre will be very, very easy to create software for, and so, logically, software developers should be as excited as the rest of us about its launch, right?

Well, according to IntoMobile, they are…

What they say about WebOS (the Palm Pre’s operating system) seems pretty consistent, saying that not only is it giving them access to proper, intelligent multitasking, making for complex apps, but it’s one of the few ‘future-oriented’ phones out there, not being a mindless rip-off of a certain fruit-based touch phone (no, not Blackberry, the other one).

In other words, it sounds like they’re diggin’ it, and that’s really quite important, since software apps have become the feature of the year, so far. The HTC Magic and Nokia N97 are both going to have their own app stores, and for a smartphone to compete, it’s pretty much a given these days, that it needs a lot of apps out there. The fact that developers are now starting to say they’re looking forward to making stuff for the Palm Pre is a good sign, then!

So, consumers like you and me want it, and developers want to make software for it. Recipe for success, in my book, that is. They’d just better get the GSM version announced soon, though, because I’m getting impatient…
