Samsung put the Soul back into mobile phones

samsung-u900-soulNews has come through to us today, from Engadget Mobile, about a new Samsung handset that’s due to hit the market, soon.

Called the “Soul”, it’s a deeply sexy combination, by the looks of it, of the 5 megapixel camera from the Samsung G800, along with the ’slimliness’ (my favourite new word) of the U700. One thing’s for definite, as you’ll be able to see from the pic:

It’s gorgeous. Like, pants-wettingly gorgeous… I mean just look at it, that metal body is enough to make me pass out with excitement. Now combine that with a touchpad interface (a la the LG Venus), that modifies itself and adapts to what you’re doing with the phone, and you have a serious contender for one of the nicest looking phones ever seen.

But, of course, if it does nothing other than look good, what’s the point of it (other than being a phone for chavs)? Thankfully, though, it does do, well, stuff. Lots of stuff.

Take, for example, the camera, weighing in at a honking great 5 megapixels, which means you’re gonna get some really stunning snaps, whichever way you slice it. Then you’ve got internet access on it, using HSDPA, meaning speeds anywhere up to 7.2Mbps. And of course, for Gmail and web searching, there’s a jumbled up Google icon on the main menu.

Oh, and the music system in it is powered by tech from Bang & Olufsen.

So, basically, it’s stunning, it does tons, and they managed to fit loads of stuff into a body 12mm thick. I’m seriously in awe.

As a final thought, remember the story I did on Wednesday about the Mobile World Congress. Remember how I said I thought they’d make a U900. Well, the soul is definitely one of their ‘Ultra’ range, like the U600 and U700. And I still say they’re gonna skip the 8 as a name.

Samsung U900 Soul has a certain ring to it, don’t you think…

Looks a bit like the Nokia N70?? Not the greatest styling.

The Samsung U900 is a classic slider phone mostly because its stunning looks. Korean phone makers are innovative in design.Magic touch is a brand new try though some people may be not used to the combination of sensitive keys and those normal keys, especially when the sensitivity of the touch pad does not match the strength that people have to use on the real pad.
