The latest version of the Samsung Omnia could be an ideal phone for those who are looking for a multimedia device with a large screen, it has been advised.

Also known as the i8910 HD, the device was put to the test by Trusted Reviews’ Sandra Vogel, who explained the model joins other cameraphones with an eight-megapixel sensor like the Sony Ericsson W995.

The Omnia HD, however, is also equipped with a host of "superb credentials" that include a 3.7-inch touchscreen with a 360 x 640 pixel resolution and AMOLED technology.

Ms Vogel suggested this makes the screen "clear, sharp and very readable in most situations" and added in its capacity as a touch-enabled panel, buyers can expect a "capacitive and responsive" interface.

"The good points [by] far outweigh the bad and if you are after a large-screened phone this could be a super choice," she concluded.

Last week, Samsung announced the launch of three new phones in the range, the Omnia II, OmniaPRO and OmniaLITE.

Is the old Omnia any good?
