Last week, Samsung Bada was unveiled to an expectant world. Well, when I say unveiled, they talked about it, but didn’t actually show us what it looked like, in what may have been one of the least great product announcements of all time. A shame, when their announcement of the Samsung Jet included super floaty 3D graphics, like something out of Tony Stark’s own personal workshop in Iron Man, but what’s done is done.
Besides, today (according to IntoMobile), there are some screenshots of Samsung’s brand new open-source OS, so we can now get our first look at Bada.
You may notice that it looks hauntingly familiar. I can see distinct hints of both Symbian and Android in there, as well as a heaping great dollop of TouchWiz, although that last one is hardly surprising, considering that Bada is actually supposed to be based on TouchWiz. That homescreen, for instance, is straight out of TouchWiz (as seen on phones like the aforementioned Samsung Jet), which is a good thing, as it means, basically, you can be assured of it being both beautiful and easy. You can make your own joke up there, if you like.
So, in other words, it’s looking rather nice. It’s clearly been touch-optimised till it screamed, and as I’ve always said, if there’s one thing Samsung are very, very good at, it’s ‘pretty’. Of course, we’ll have no idea how nice it actually is to use, until it gets released, but if it’s as nice as TouchWiz, we should be in for a treat.
Here’s hoping, anyway…
