Samsung Armani – haute couture gone mobile

armani phone2This has been news for a while, but it seemed about time we had a look at it because, well, it’s getting near the release, and quite frankly, it’s chuffing gorgeous.

Birthed from the design of the now-defunct Samsung P520 (which itself was a follow-up to the P300 and P310 credit card phones), the whoooooooooooooole thought process changed as soon as Armani jumped on board. It had always been conceived as a full touchscren phone (much like the LG Prada), but with the new sponsor, the whole thing was made… well, sexier. Slicker. And, crucially, it has that ultra special Armani branding on it.

That also meant changing little things like the font the phone uses to show text onscreen, and the startup animation. All those little touches add together to make one stunning experience. As they say, god is in the details, and its these little details that set it apart from its touchscreen rivals.

Features-wise, it’s no slouch, with 3MP camera, music player, document viewer, fantastic new flash operating system….

You don’t care about specs do you? To be honest, I don’t either, on this one. Just look at it!

In fact, there’s only one way to descibe the sensation of looking at a Samsung Armani. You know that moment, when you’re growing up, and you suddenly look at the opposite sex, and instead of going “Ewwwwww, cooties,” you have a very different reaction…….?

THAT’s how it feels to look at a Samsung Armani

[Edit: Technical Markus likes touching things to make them work. This possibly says more about him than you wanted to know...]

That’s horrible, we need a Ralph Lauren Polo phone, which can double as a polo mallet or something. The i_phone leads the way now and the rest may as well stick to functionality rather than gimmick designs.

I think that is rather cool, Samsung are an obvious partner for Armani as they are not an especially desirable brand in their own right (unlike Nokia or SE) yet they have gone a long way since they launched that AWFUL A300 (the one which was the first flip phone to have 2 screens).

As a dedicated follower of fashion (just ask my credit card) I am ‘ALL OVER’ the Samsung Armani phone and will certainly be looking to buy one as soon as they are launched…which is WHEN? Markus? WHEN?

Well, you see, we’re waiting for news on when exacty it’s going to be released. So far, all we’ve heard is “some time in January”, but we’re not 100% sure that’s been confirmed either.

I can’t wait, myself, though, I’m dying to have a muck about with it.
