After the news of the release date for the Sony Ericsson Idou, who would’ve thought things could get much bigger today… Well, they have, because another story’s popped up, this time about the Blackberry Storm. Or, more accurately, according to IntoMobile, that there may well be a new version of the Blackberry Storm on the way later this year.
Let’s call it Blackberry Storm 2: The Sequel, until it gets a proper name.
At the moment, there’s no real confirmation of what new stuff will be found in Blackberry Storm 2: The Sequel, other than that it should have WiFi. Whether that’s a confirmed indicator of what specs it will have, or whether that’s just wishful thinking on Storm owners’ part remains to be seen, but it’s definitely something that was noticeable by its absence in the first Blackberry Storm.
As for what else it might include, there’s no confirmation of anything, but it might be possible to make some educated guesses (or possibly wild guesses and stupid speculation, if I feel inclined). An uprated camera’s almost certainly a shoe-in, especially when you consider it’s going to be going up against phones like the aforementioned Sony Ericsson Idou, so 3 megapixels might not be a very big draw any more.
The big thing I reckon they need to sort out, though, is that clickable screen. Sure, it’s unique, and yes, it gives the Blackberry Storm’s virtual keyboard something approaching the feel of a real, physical keyboard, but there’s a downside…
It takes that much pressure to press the damn thing, that after a few key presses it, and I quote an old friend of mine, makes your hands “hurt like a mofo”. So, if at all possible, RIM, could you make it so that the keyboard on Blackberry Storm 2: The Sequel doesn’t actively try to injure its users…
