Orange has been named the best and most reliable mobile broadband provider by customers in an independent survey.

The phone giant was awarded highly for its broadband customer service and reliability in a report by YouGov and retained the crown for having the best service.

It was presented with the top rating in nine categories including reliability during the day and evening, and ease of use.

Asif Aziz, director of broadband and home for Orange UK, said the company was really proud of holding on to the position.

He said: "This win is recognition of our strong focus on network quality and brilliant customer service and it’s our aim to build on these, as well as the products and services we offer, to ensure our customers continue to benefit from a high quality user experience."

Orange’s claim its 3G network covers 93 per cent of the population – one of its handsets on offer includes the Apple iPhone 3G S 16GB.

93% of the population. Mmmm so all the cities, towns and villages are covered, what about the 4-5 mile gaps between them. I am on a 24 month contract with orange and the iphone and this is the poorest coverage I have received so far, reminds me of when mobile phones first came out. GPS is usless as it updates only when in signal range which means it jumps the voids between, and apps only work well when static. Live in Buckingham / Northants area and on a 20 mile journey pick up 3G for maybe 4-5 miles of it in the three major towns I pass through. Not very mobile!
