The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will be available on Orange as part of an exclusive deal the network has agreed.

The network will be the only provider to supply the X10 in white.

It will be free of charge as part of selected tariffs and, although other companies will be making the gadget available, Orange will be the sole place for buyers to pick up the white version.

The X10 is the first handset from Sony Ericsson to be powered by Google Android.

It features new applications such as Mediascape and Timescape, which enable users to combine fun and functionality.

For instance, Timescape is said to let a user manage all of their communications in one place, while Mediascape is a gadget for obtaining videos, photos and images easily and quickly.

"The exclusive white Xperia X10 allows users to make the most from their social relationships, whether over a call or online and is a great addition to our ever expanding range of Android devices," said Francois Mahieu, director of devices at Orange UK.

Other networks set to supply the X10 include Vodafone and Virgin Mobile.
