Orange boosts Twitter options

The latest network to join O2 in offering the Apple iPhone 3G in the UK has announced a new deal to boosts its social networking facilities.

Orange explained this week that as part of a new deal struck with Twitter, its users will now be able to access their accounts for the purpose of uploading images as well as receiving and sending updates.

The network’s head of product management in the UK Mark Watts Jones said it was clear that the micro-blogging website had changed the way people connect and consume news.

"We’re delighted to extend the value of the service by bringing it to mobile," he added.

Twitter will now join Facebook, MySpace and Bebo in forming part of the carrier’s Orange’s Social Life service.

It also means that those considering opting for an Apple iPhone 3G S have more services to consider when choosing between O2 and Orange.

This week also saw the latter network unveil a new Facebook facility called People Projects that encourages the public to get involved with local volunteering.
