News from the pages of IntoMobile, now, and it’s good news for anyone who uses the internet on their phone. Browser geniuses Opera have announced that a new version of the brilliant Opera Mobile browser is going to be available soon, and by all accounts, it rocks.
There’s two reasons for that:
1/ It includes loads of new tech to compress down web pages, and make them load quicker on mobile phones, all under the heading of Opera Turbo.
2/ It supports Flash!
Basically, other than screen size, Opera Mobile 9.7 is set to make viewing the internet on your phone no different to viewing it on a PC. I wouldn’t be churlish enough to point out that certain other mobile browsers (naming no names, but the phone begins with an i), don’t support Flash, so when I inevitably get Opera Mobile 9.7 for my Sony Ericsson X1 (which you know I will), my web browser will be better than the phone that all the fanboys rave about.
Good job I’m not childish enough to draw attention to that fact, eh…?
*snigger*
All in all, then, this is going to be one seriously powerful web browser, so anyone who uses Windows Mobile, which the newest versions of Opera Mobile always appear on first, should be wetting themselves with excitement about now.
And a note to Matt, with your HTC Touch HD… I want to try this out on your phone. Big screen, and Flash content. You know you want to let me…
