Woohoo! We only had to wait four months after the Americans got it (you lucky, lucky bleeders, you), but it’s finally hitting the shelves!
Yup, as reported by our own news section, O2 have announced the official release date for the Palm Pre, and, as you can probably infer from the title of this blog post, it’s going to be going on sale on October 16th. Three weeks tomorrow, the day after my birthday, you can finally get your hands on the Palm Pre.
Which means we now get to see whether I was right when I said the Palm Pre is infinity% better than the iPhone.
But what of pricing? Well, O2 have announced the tariff guide for the Pre, as well, and yes, it will be available for free on some tariffs. If you’re after an 18 month contract, you’re looking at £45 to get the phone free, and that tariff’ll net you 1200 minutes, 500 texts, and unlimited internet access. Meanwhile, if you go for a 24 month contract, you’re looking at £35 to get the phone free, and that’ll give you 600 minutes, and 500 texts. And you’ll, again, get unlimited internet access, along with free access to BT OpenZone WiFi hotspots (which, yes, you also get on the 18 month contracts).
So, yes. We may have had to wait four months after them lucky colonials got it, but in three weeks time, us limeys finally get our hands on the phone everyone’s talking about. I shall endeavour to get my hands on a Palm Pre when it finally hits the shelves, and provide you, dear readers, with the full review of it (I may have to use coercion, begging, and if that doesn’t work, a lump of two-by-four to the face, to achieve this, but hey, s’all good).
Well, y’know, when I’ve stopped mucking about with it enough to actually type some thoughts down. You know how it is when you get a new phone to play with…
