A new study into mobile broadband services across the UK has been welcomed by one of the country’s providers.
O2 has said it is behind the Ofcom research, which aims to look at the performance of average internet speeds currently being sold to customers in Britain.
According to Mike Fairman, O2‘s head of broadband, it is essential for the industry to have a consistent code of practice – and this includes connection speeds and their transparency.
"If Ofcom considers publishing ISP-specific speeds, we would want data for all UK broadband service providers – including O2 Home Broadband – to be made available," he added.
The comments follow the introduction of a new code of practice where service providers are asked to provide a clear picture of the broadband speeds available to customers at the time they are sold.
Last week, O2 advised that it had seen record numbers of tect messages sent through its network over the new year period.
