O2 is aiming to change the negative perception that people have of youngsters which could then drive sales of its mobile phones.
The handset manufacturer has unveiled a new £5 million scheme called Think Big after research noted there are 46 per cent of adults who have a pessimistic view of adolescents in society.
Ronan Dunne, chief executive of O2 UK, said the operator is trying to help change the views people have of juveniles today by empowering them to make decisions for themselves.
She added: "Our customers tell us we should do more to support young people and this is a totally new approach."
The operator – which was named by SIRODA as the quickest mobile phone web page access provider in London compared to four other operators – could increase sales of handsets on its network, including the Samsung Genio Black, thanks to the new initiative.
