Nokia currently has a wide selection of smartphones available on pay monthly tariffs that provide access to a range of applications and services.
However, after reports earlier this year the manufacturer’s Ovi Store had got off to a shaky start, some may have been apprehensive about what to expect from the platform.
But this week, a spokesman for the Finnish manufacturer has told GigaOM’s Om Malik there is much to look forward to with the service.
Nokia’s executive vice-president of services Tero Ojanpera admitted there had been some teething problems, but said these were in the past.
He added an increased focus on technologies such as mapping, open source collaboration and games would help boost the Ovi Store and its related options.
Smartphones currently available that offer access to the platform include the Symbian S60-based Nokia 5800 and 5530 XpressMusic, as well as the N97, N97 mini and X6.
