Nokia and Sky have joined forces to produce an application that will be available on the phone manufacturer’s Ovi Store.

The announcement should please football fans, who will be able to watch Sky Sports live on their handset thanks to the application.

Rupert Englander, Nokia UK head of services marketing, said the company is always looking for new ideas for its customers and the deal with Sky will not be the only one to enhance the services it provides for its consumers.

He added: "Modern lifestyles have driven demand for great mobile content and services on the go, and it’s great to know that this app will make a real difference to Nokia users."

One of the phones that consumers will be able to download the app onto is the Nokia X6, which has a 3.2-inch touchscreen and 32GB internal memory. The handset also features a five-megapixel camera that comes with autofocus.
