Nokia has honoured Numo’s SMS Preview with the Nokia Ovi Top App Of 2009 award.
The mobile phone application – which gives users a preview of an incoming text message – was one of the most downloaded apps last year, according to the creator.
Trond Ingebretsen, chief executive of Numo, said: "This award is yet another proof of the success of Numo’s smart and useful products. SMS Preview gave us large volumes in 2009 and continues to accelerate in 2010."
A pro version of the application is also available, which allows people to delete or answer the message while in the preview.
In addition, the Numo Finder is another device marketed by the manufacturer, which shows the name and number of incoming calls, but the user does not have to have the two details in their phone book.
This news comes after it was revealed earlier this month that Nokia users are now downloading more than one million apps a day from the Ovi Store, meaning its net sales – £10.4 billion – are up 22 per cent on the previous quarter.
