As part of a trio of new releases, Nokia has announced the launch of a handset that offers functionality and style to the mid-range user.

The Finnish manufacturer’s 6700 Classic aims to build on the successes of previous devices, such as the 6300, as well as combine practical design with the latest features.

Equipped with a five-megapixel camera, GPS navigation through the Nokia Maps service and high speed 3G connectivity, the company claims it has answered the needs of a large sector of the market.

Soren Petersen, senior vice-president of Nokia, said it was clear that the 6700 had many of the same traits as its 6300 predecessor, adding it was expected that this would make it a popular phone with the public.

"The Nokia 6700 moves that bar even higher with a beautiful, slim design and perfectly balanced practicality," he said.

It was also announced this week that the firm would launch two other new models, the 6303 Classic and 2700 Classic.

Was the 6300 a classic phone? and if so, are you tempted by the 6700?
