LG, right, LG are brilliant. They’ve got this knack of making drop dead gorgeous phones that have a grab bag of cool features, that, crucially, people want to own. It wasn’t always like this, though, and I can remember when LG phones, waaaay back in past, were awful. I reckon there are two phones that you can point at and say, “Yep, they’re the ones that changed LG’s fortunes forever.”
No, not the Shine, it was rubbish (let’s just say my nickname for it involved replacing the ‘n’ in the name for something else).
No, not the Prada either, although that was a really nice phone.
The second of the two phones that changed LG forever was the Viewty, the phone so good, it nearly tempted me away form Sony Ericsson.
But before that was the first phone that changed them forever: the LG Chocolate. It was compact, it was sexy, and it allegedly had a box that smelled of real chocolate. I say allegedly, because although colleagues would swear blind they could smell it, I never could (but then, I have famously dodgy sinuses, so it’s hardly surprising my smell receptors have atrophied). Nevertheless, it was immensely popular, and went on to sell 21 million handsets. Which is an awful lot of phones.
So, in the same way that they hope lightning will strike twice with the LG Viewty Smart, it seems that LG have their sights set on releasing a new version of the Chocolate, according to Electric Pig. That, apparently, is it in those teaser photos attached to this blog post. Those pics that give away absolutely nothing, other than the fact it’s phone-shaped, and has a red bit on it. And as for specs, er, presumably it will have some. But I have no idea what they are.
So, in conclusion, then, we can deduce two things: 1/ the new LG Chocolate will look gorgeous; and 2/ er, it will presumably do, like, phone-type stuff, as well.
All in all, not much of a bombshell to end on, I agree, but I’m sure more details will emerge soon…

I was so revolted by LG phones around 2004-2005 that I refuse to touch one ever again. Physically they were fine, but the software was *appalling*.
