A new basketball game has been made available for the Apple iPhone 3G that one reviewer has put to the test.

In a piece for Pocket Gamer this week, Tracy Erickson looked at NBA Live and noted that with all 30 of the US league’s teams available, this is a release that could be popular with fans.

The lack of a multiplayer is something that was noted as a shame and the writer expressed hope that this would be included in the next title in the series. However, the gameplay was highlighted as something that may prove popular.

Ms Erickson said this facility was particularly easy to get to grips with, as "a context-sensitive analogue stick" can be used to enhance what is "a simple control scheme".

The game has three mode options – exhibition, season and playoff – but for those who want something even more disposable, Flick NBA is also available for the iPhone and carries a series of quick play facilities.

What is the best iPhone sports game around?
