As promised last week, ARM have shown the world Google Android running on one of their devices, according to Pocket Lint.
Ok, granted, it wasn’t on a new ARM device.
And ok, granted, it was on a chipset 2 years old.
Oh ok, granted, it was running in a device that will never make it to market.
But, still, it is only a proof of concept, so it doesn’t have to make it to market. That being said, reports state that despite running on 2 year old chips, it was still devastatingly fast, and because the OS is open source, it means people making Android handsets can customise the look. Although it’s fair to say most will go with the distinctive look show in the pics below, I would imagine, ‘cos it’s distinctive, like.
The demo previewed features like Google Maps, SMS and camera, and if one thing is clear from the demo, Google Android certainly has the speed and the pizzazz (I love that word…) to go far in the mobile world.
