The internet is a worthwhile resource for those who want to take advantage of the many special offers retailers are now offering, it has been advised.

In news that may please people opting for a mobile broadband package, a spokesman for MyVoucherCodes said the ongoing effects of the economic downturn are making the web a great place to shop.

Mark Pearson, managing director of the discount website, agreed many consumers were now actively seeking out ways to save and firms were happy to provide these in order to secure their custom.

"[People are] being more savvy," he explained. "They’re taking the time to research key purchases. I think that’s really had a big impact so people are using sites like ours."

He concluded by saying price comparison portals are just one place where big discounts can be found.

Recent figures from the State of Retailing Online 2009 report showed that four out of five retailers think the web is the channel best suited to withstand the recession.
