After the little mishap over at LG last week, the successor to the Viewty has now gone official, and courtesy of LG’s official press release, we finally know the real name for it.
And it ain’t Viewty II…
Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the LG Viewty Smart. And I’m pleased to report that, as you can see for yourself, it looks bleedin’ lovely! But then, that’s no surprise, really, as LG have a reputation for making damn sexy phones. I mean, just take a look at the first incarnation of the LG Viewty. It looked awesome, and it holds the place as the only phone that’s ever really come close to tempting me away from Sony Ericsson.
It was just that nice.
Well, its successor is even nicer. The LG Viewty Smart takes the concept of adding a stonking great camera to a touchscreen phone to the next level, with an 8 megapixel shooter. It’s not just the 8 megapixels that make it nice, though, same as it wasn’t just the pixel count in its predecessor that made it worth getting. The camera on the LG Viewty Smart also comes with Intelligent Shot (which sounds like a Metal Gear Solid villain to me), multiple face detection (detecting every face in the viewfinder, not just one, smile shot, and god knows how many different intelligent lighting options.
Oh, and outside of the camera, the LG Viewty Smart also supports DivX video, and has Dolby sound, to make it sound better than just about any other phone, as well. The camera’s the big selling point, but those things help, too.
Actually, I should say the camera is one of the big selling points, because the other one is the LG Viewty Smart’s looks, both in terms of its body, and its interface. Y’see, it’s running on the same S-Class UI that runs the LG Arena, and that is a very good thing, because S-Class rocks. No messing about, here, it’s brilliant to use, nicer than just about any other OS out there (WebOS notwithstanding, of course). And since the phone you’re using it in is only 12.4mm thick, and appears to have a metal body, expect your phone to draw a lot of admiring glances.
It’s all very well me telling you all this, but what you need is to see it for yourself, right?
Here you go, then:
I dare you to take one look at that and tell me it’s not awesome…
