LG Electronics has announced the beta launch of its online Application Store for users of its wide range of smartphones.
The South Korean manufacturer explained that from July 14th, the facility will begin going live across the world and will offer access to up to 2,000 downloadable gadgets by the end of the year.
Among these will be at least 100 programs that can be selected for free and according to a spokesman for the company, users can expect to see much more in the future.
Dr Skott Ahn, chief executive officer of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said the firm will invest heavily in the growing popularity of such downloadable applications.
"Opening our own [store] will allow us to offer the best content … for our devices so that LG phone owners will get the best possible ownership experience," he added.
Phones in the firm’s current range include the GM730, Arena KM900 and the Cookie.
