Ahhhhhh, another post, another Windows Mobile 6.5 handset. This time, it’s one from Korean manufacturer LG. The phone you’re looking at is the new LG GM750, and the first you can say about it is that, just like pretty much every LG phone ever made, ever, it’s one hell of a looker. I don’t know what it is, whether it’s something in the water, or something about South Korean culture, but both LG and Samsung do it. It’s like making mouth-watering phones comes as second nature to them. Seriously. Look at the LG GD900 Crystal. You’ll see what I mean.
I honestly can’t explain it, but since it means they keep producing phones that look stupendously pretty, I ain’t complaining.
In fact, the only thing that slightly spoils the look of the phone is the honking great Vodafone badge plastered on the front. But then, you’d expect to see that there, because it’s been confirmed the LG GM750 is a Vodafone-exclusive. Still, even with that huge, third party badge on, the phone’s still a looker.
Specs-wise, it ain’t bad, either. Obviously, as I said it earlier, it runs on WinMo 6.5, but LG have done what most Windows phone makers now do, and whacked their own interface on top. And since that interface is S-Class (which is smurfing lovely), that’s a good thing.
As for hardware, you’ll be using the S-Class UI on a 3 inch screen, and round the back, there’s a 5MP camera. Oh, and needless to say, things like HSDPA, WiFi and GPS are built in. But let’s be honest, have you seen a recent smartphone where they’re not?
So, in conclusion, the LG GM750 looks like a rather decent phone, and it’s clearly very pretty. However, I still think the Sony Ericsson X2 is the best WinMo 6.5 phone we’ve seen so far. But then, I would think that, since it’s the phone I’m having next…
