LG is encouraging its customers to make the most of their mobile phones with a new international gaming event.
The South Korean manufacturer – which currently boasts multimedia-enabled gadgets like the KM900 Arena among its flagship range – has announced details of the LG Mobile World Cup.
Among the events will be a pop art competition, photography contest, celebrity-studded gala concert and a US World Championship climax that will feature the search for the world’s fastest text message writer.
Dr Skott Ahn, president and chief executive officer of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said the firm was attempting to address the many facets of the modern handset that people now enjoy.
"LG wants to highlight how modern mobile phones are helping enrich people’s lives and [the] Mobile World Cup allows us to do that and have fun at the same time," he explained.
This week, the group announced the beta version of its Application Store had launched.
