As many pundits are reporting today, the price of the Apple iPhone has dropped by a huge £100, bringing the price down below £200 for the first time since, well, ever! Now standing at £169, it’s never been cheaper to buy this lickle masterpiece from Apple.
Both O2 and Carphone Warehouse, the two exclusive retail partners for the iPhone in the UK, have dropped their prices on the 8Gb version of the iPhone, which is an interesting move since, if you look at Apple’s own store, they’re keeping it at £269. What can this mean?
Could it mean the 3G iPhone is due to be announced soon? Or could it be that O2 and Carphone Warehouse want to get rid of stock of the 8Gb version so they sell more of the 16Gb version, instead? Well, frankly, I don’t know (although I have my suspicions), but it does mean that you can now get the Apple iPhone for £169.
Oh, and that’s on ANY tariff they sell the iPhone on, not just on the top, £70 tariff, like the trick T Mobile pulled in Germany when they dropped the handset price. Which is a good thing, since I nearly laughed myself silly (I’ll be honest, though, I did laugh hard enough to shoot tea out my nose) when T Mobile Germany dropped the price, then upped the tariff to compensate.
Now, on to the main point of this article. If Chewie is reading this, and I strongly suspect that he is, I’d just like to dedicate the following message to him.
Ready?
Hahahahaha, Chewie got an iPhone for a hundred quid more than he had to pay for it, if only he’d waited 6 months! Ha! Hahahahahahahaha!
Ahem.

Chewie bought it early because he is a trend setter! (I’ll stick up for you Chu!)
Some people are of the mindset “Why wait 6 months to buy it when usually something better comes out in the mean time?” – so you can’t blame him really.

Haha, thanks Jillian.
I really am not bothered about the price going down, paying £100 extra to have the iPhone for 6 months has been worth it. I use the iPod side of it every single day on the tube, Google maps has saved my ass no end of times. On top of that, with all the downloadable stuff i have been getting from Installer the iPhone has been in constant use.
So in closing even if i knew it was coming down in price in 6 months when it was announced i still woulda bought it
