The appointment of a new head of music at Virgin Media could lead to more innovative services, it has been advised.
It was announced this week that the network – which provides a number of mobile broadband packages – has found an executive to handle its music-focussed online offerings.
Having spent time in a similar role at Orange, Richard Wheeler will take the job of head of music – in a move which the company claims will lead to a range of new offerings for its web and mobile phone customers.
Jon James, director of broadband at the company, said there were a number of changes taking place in the industry and Virgin Media was "uniquely well-placed" to take advantage of this.
"Coupled with Richard’s outstanding wealth of experience and in-depth understanding of the needs of artists, labels and consumers, we’ll continue to build our presence in music," he added.
The carrier recently announced details of a new mobile phone tariff named Addict.
What music services would you suggest the new chief explores?
